Cherokee County Animal Shelter is an open adoption facility. Our knowledgable staff will try to help match you to the best possible pet for your lifestyle and share any information we have on the animal of your choice. Some animals may have special requirements such as fenced yards, some may require "no small children" live in the adoptive home or there could be some special health needs for some pets. We'd like you to walk through and find an animal you like, then spend some time with them so that you get to know their personality. If you have any other dogs at home, we ask that you bring them back to meet the dog of your choice so that we know they will get along; if you have children, please bring them so that we know everything will be ok once they leave the shelter. Don't hesitate to ask questions.
Please note that if the animal you adopt requires additional vaccinations, you will be responsible for taking care of them. You will be asked several questions, please keep in mind that it is in the best interest of you and your companion animal that you answer honestly. We do reserve the right to refuse an adoption to anyone we feel is not a good match.
