Please note that you must be 18 years of age in order to do community service at the shelter. If you are pregnant, injured, allergic to cats, dogs or cleaning products, you must go elsewhere to do your services.
Tuesday thru Saturday, Community Service starts at 8am. You must be here early enough to sign the sheet outside the front door of the Adoption building. No appointment is necessary and late arrivals are not allowed.
You will only be allowed to work 4 hours per day. (8am-Noon)
WEEKENDS: Sunday & Monday we are NOT accepting community service workers.
We are a nonprofit governmental department of Cherokee County, Georgia. The Cherokee County Probation Office has many people who are sent to us to complete Community Service hours. We also have community service workers that come to us from other counties.
**We are not responsible for verifying that your community service work at this facilty is accepted by your case worker, PO or the judge in your case. It is YOUR responsibilty to determine if this facility is an eligible location to complete your court ordered service.
PLEASE NOTE We DO NOT give additional letters or letterhead documentation.
The dress code is as follows:
We use peroxide cleaning products, so be sure to wear clothes that you do not mind getting ruined.
No tank tops – No cut off shorts – No bikini or midriff tops--No Spandex Leggings
Shirts & blouses must have sleeves
Shorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee
No Gum, No Sandals, No flip-flops, all shoes must have toes enclosed
Pants and shorts must be pulled up around the waist and cannot be swaggering down around the hips.
Parking: You must park across the street at Kenny Askew Parking Lot.
Cell Phones & Cigarettes: You must leave your cell phone & Cigarettes in your vehicle. If you do not have a vehicle, you must leave them at the front desk of the building you will be working in that day. Any person found with a cell phone while doing community service will forfeit all houre they have received and be dismissed.
NO SMOKING on the Animal Shelter or Senior Services premises. You must go to your vehicle to smoke.
Absolutely no cursing or foul language will be tolerated. No loitering in the front offices.
We reserve the right to ask violators to leave.
